I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. My family roots trace back to Tennessee and Louisiana. I grew up in a single-parent household, where my mom raised four children. As the oldest child and only son, I learned to cook from my mom late at night during the holidays, eagerly waiting to be the first to taste the food. I spent weekends and summers with my grandparents, where my grandfather taught me his barbecue techniques, and my grandmother prepared dinner, especially her famous smothered chicken. There was a special pot she used, and whenever it was on the stove, you knew something extraordinary was being cooked. Neighbors often gathered around our family table because we were known as some of the best cooks in the area. Now, I’m excited to share these family recipes with my customers—my new family and friends. It means a lot to me to carry on my family's legacy, and I take pride in what I do.
